Leonard Belliveau, Jr., P.E. and Kevin Toomey, P.E., Jensen Hughes.This presentation will provide an overview of fire alarm system fundamentals including system objectives, control equipment functions, initiating devices, notification appliances, circuits and pathways, inspection, testing and maintenance and basic troubleshooting concepts. The presentation will discuss special applications affecting the design and installation of fire alarm systems such as high-ceiling areas, beam pockets, environmental factors, emergency voice communications, survivability, etc. Common installation and inspection/testing oversights will also be discussed. The program is for new inspectors and those who are in the field now and would like an update.
